Developing A Good Personality
Personality is the quality of a person's character that makes them noticeable, distinct, interesting, and attractive. Everyone desires to be attractive to others, and to achieve this, having a good personality is crucial, even more than good looks. In fact, around 80% of your success and happiness will depend on how well you interact with others, not just your looks. Ultimately, it is your personality that determines whether people are attracted to you or not.
While we can only enhance our looks to a certain extent, we have the power to improve our personality as much as we want. We can develop any desirable trait we find worthy and fitting in distinctive ways.
Here are ten ways to enhance your personality:
1. Have an opinion:
Nothing is more tedious than trying to converse with someone who has no opinion on anything. Having an uncommon point of view or an opinion makes you more interesting and stimulating to be with socially.
2. Meet new people:
Making the effort to meet and interact with new people, especially those unlike you, not only exposes you to different cultures and alternative ways of doing things but also broadens your horizon.
3. Be yourself, don't copy:
Trying to be something you are not backfires. Expressing your unique personality is what makes you interesting. Attempting to be a carbon copy of someone else reveals a lack of authenticity.
4. Be fun and see the humorous side of life:
Everyone enjoys the company of someone who makes them laugh or smile. When you can add fun and joyousness to an otherwise dull and gloomy setting, others will naturally be attracted to you.
5. Have a positive outlook and attitude:
Being negative, complaining a lot, or having nothing good to say repels people. Instead, be the kind of person who lights up a room with your energy when you enter it. Look for the best in people and things, be motivating, smile warmly, spread good cheer, and enliven others with your presence.
6. Be a good conversationalist:
Reading and gaining knowledge helps in having much to contribute. Learn how to talk about subjects with others. It's refreshing to learn about things we don't have time to talk or read about from others.
7. Read more and expand your interests:
The more you read and cultivate new interests, the more interesting you become to others. Meeting new people allows you to share what you know and to exchange views with them.
8. Be supportive:
Being supportive is one of the most endearing qualities you can integrate into your personality. Be the support for others when they need it. We all love a cheerleader in our corner; someone who is encouraging, believes in us, and helps us up when we are down.
9. Have integrity and treat people with respect:
Being honest and true to your word earns you the admiration, respect, and gratitude of others. Nothing improves a person's personality more than integrity and respect.
10. Be a better listener:
Giving people your attention invites them to come close to you. They know that you will listen to them and contribute positively, which adds value and boosts the listener's personality.
