Forget The Challenge, Just Smile
A son once asked his father a question, "Dad, why do you keep smiling even when you are facing problems? You are supposed to be sad about it. Why is that?"
The father replied, "Son, as a human being, I know it's normal to feel bad when challenges come your way. Yes, I do feel bad, but I smile because I know it's life's test. It is normal to face challenges in life. No matter how careful you try to be, you must encounter them."
He continued, "What we don't realize is that it's not the challenges that matter, but rather how we react to them. You may decide to feel too bad about it, overthink it, get angry at the people involved, or mope over it. However, this does not solve the problem. There's a saying that goes, 'the more you concentrate on a problem, the greater you are making it become.'"
The father then shared his two principles for dealing with challenges. He said, "When faced with a challenge, I ask myself two questions. Can I do anything to change the situation? If yes, then why worry? Go ahead and do it. If no, why worry then? Leave it in your prayers. Your worry will not solve the problem."
He concluded, "Life goes on regardless of how you react to what it throws at you. Overthinking it shortens your lifespan and kills the beauty of your smile. Life is too short to concentrate on situations that kill your happiness. Keep smiling at all times and in the face of any challenge."
